At their April 16 regular meeting, the Joshua ISD Board of Trustees recognized many members of the JISD family.
The Board recognized the Joshua ISD Special Olympics Basketball participants and coaches. Team members and coaches recognized were: Avery Johnson, Lucas Rollen, Jimmy Page, Zack Smith, Evan Vawter, Bryan Luce, Ryder Gonzalez, Cade Johnson, Jaxson Lee, Jayden Camarena, Gabe Perea, Gavin Baker, Cisco Aguirre, Wyatt Kennemer, Valery Munoz, Lizzette Torres, Jasmine Perez, Sydney Lamar, Kayden McCullough, Elizabeth Taylor, Lexie Monds, Jean Bell, Adrian Collins, Raelyn Morrow, Athan Spratley, Jaxon Spratley, Corbin Estep, Jordan Patterson, and coaches Cinnamon Geddie and Nicole DeTommaso.
The Board recognized the Special Olympics Basketball Adult Primetime Owls Team and coaches, alumni students Gage Garza, Allie Haskins, Miranda Campbell, Tyler Goetz and Garrett Cox, and coaches Rebecca Couey and Kayla Haskins.
The Board recognized Staples Elementary teacher Shaunna Goodwin for being named the 2025 Jack Harvey Teacher of the Year.
The Board recognized the Plum Creek Elementary Destination Imagination team for placing 2nd in the Greater Fort Worth Region Competition and advancing to the State Competition. Team members recognized were: Tynleigh Vickers, Hudson Arndt, Ethan Blackwell, Beau Miller, Jose Garza and Brixon Bullard.
The Board recognized the Lady Owls Varsity Soccer Team for their successful season which earned them their 17th consecutive playoff appearance. The Lady Owls are Bi-District Champions and Area Finalists. Team members recognized were: Coach Jeff Brooks, Lauren Ellis, Kynli Miller, Kennedy Gortney, Hazel Curs, Hannah Day, Markie Lain, Joslyn Miller, Taylor Gorman, Chloe Griswell, Cori Hunnel, Avery Gortney, Gracie Davis, Presley Hubbard, Hadley Soto, Emma Freeman, Dillyn Hammons, Kloe Garcia, Kameron Tatum, Kaitlyn Rush and Kennedi Novian.
The Board recognized the Owls Varsity Soccer Team for their successful season which earned them a playoff appearance. The Varsity Owls are Bi-District Champions and Area Finalists. Team members recognized were: Coach Will Walker, Garin Gotcher, David Lopez, Tony Ortiz, Granger Quinn, Israel Gutierrez, Dotun Ogunkoya, Angel Espejel, Luke Einhaus, Eli Einhaus, Dominic Gutierrez, Jack Ellis, Cayden Howard, Neiden Paramo, Nick Smith, Josh Martinez, Ishmael Robles, Javier Pena, Josue Monreal, Carter Mitchell, Carson, Kilcoin, William Petty and Mario Elizondo.
The Board recognized board member Myra Pruitt for her 23 years of dedicated service to the staff and students in JISD. The board wishes Mrs. Pruitt well in her future endeavors.
